Another Pinot Grigio .... and it didn't pass muster. I've become a fan of this variety but this particular one did not have the same flavor or bouquet I've come to expect. I'm not saying it's "bad" ... but I would only give it a 6.5/10 ... far lower than my other Pinot Grigio reviews!

I really enjoyed some Pinot Grigio's a while ago and so I was looking forward to this new one I found from Italy. Although it was smooth and lemony and had a nice tropical fruit aroma, I felt it was lacking and could only give it a 6.5/10 ... and it didn't really go with my pizza ... I guess I should read the official serving suggestions!!!

Today we try another "new" favorite I have discovered ... A Pinot Grigio ... but this time it's from North America!
BAREFOOT CELLARS PINOT GRIGIO

It's funny how you really start to look forward to finding another good bottle of wine under $10 after having a few that really "didn't do it". You're almost tempted to go and have one of your favorites ... but ... when you're trying to do 365 wines in 365 days and trying to keep current (I'm already a few days behind as I went down to New Brunswick for a few days this month) you can't afford to "slip in" a known good one every now and then ... that's a lot of wine!
All that being said, this "Barefoot" Pinot Grigio from California did not disappoint! Lately I've had a couple wines that were crisp on the finish (which I like) but had nothing in the front end ... the initial aroma or taste. This had all three. From the pineapple aroma to the full citris taste (pineapple and peach) to the crisp finish, this was the perfect wine to enjoy after a long Saturday at work. And it went perfectly with the old chedder I had as a treat tonight ... a very enjoyable Pinot Grigio that I would recommmend to anyone ... 8/10

I've had recent success (at least in my own mind!!) in finding a new grape that I really enjoy ... Pinot Grigio. In the local LCBO last night I found another Ontario wine ... I've had good luck on the last two from Ontario and wanted to try a "local" Pinot Grigio.
PELEE ISLAND PINOT GRIGIO

And it did not disappoint!!! Pelee Island continues to impress ... this Pinot has a fruity and flower aroma and is very crisp in the mouth. I initially chilled the wine (as I do all my whites) but found that as it got less chilled, the citus flavors literally exploded. The taste was very refreshing and I think this will tie a previous Pinot ... mabe we'll have a video challenge later in this series if we don't get a clear winner in the Pinot Grigio category! A solid 8/10 and I WILL buy it again!

Yes, I like Sauvignon Blanc ... but I think I've found something that is growing on me ... not enough to replace my Sauv of course ... but really starting to enjoy Pinot Grigio!

One word ... "Tasty" ... it didn't really have a great aroma (maybe it was too chilled) ... but the taste/flavor was worth the review! Although light colored (kinda a red flag for me) it featured rich peach flavors (with a hint of pineapple) and a refreshingly crisp finish! Very pleasant just on it's own ... although it was right at home with my pizza tonight!!
The first selection from Argentina and a winner I would buy again. 7.5/10 ....

Wow ... a great find here! From the pleasant citrus aroma with a hint of smoke, this wine had a nice lemon flavor with a smooth silky feeling as it went down! We had it with a grilled chicken salad and it couldn't have been matched any better. A solid 8 and highly recommended!
