It's always fun when I find a Canadian wine that I really enjoy ... especially for under $10 (but I had to cheat again ... as you will see it was only under $10 because it was on sale - but that counts in this Blog!!) ... and from a family of grape that isn't as well known as some others!
PELEE ISLAND GEWURZTRAMINER

This is a complex wine ... no one flavor sticks out so read the tasting notes below for a thorough explanation. Suffice to say I agree with the notes and have to say that it goes fantastic if you are serving a spicy dish ... the pairing will blow you away if you try it. I would definitely buy it again (it's a staple in my house as I love spicy food) and rate it as an 8/10. If the regular price was under $10 it would be rated higher!!!

Tasting Note - Pale straw/yellow colour; floral, ripe peach, honey and lychee fruit aromas; off-dry, light to medium bodied, softly structured with balanced acidity, flavours of honey suckle, rose water, pear, citrus and lychee; hints of spice on the finish.
Serving Suggestion - As an aperitif; Chinese foods; stir fries; California rolls.

1 Wine in 1 Day ...
Ok ... this is the first one and I am setting the bar high!! My favorite style of wine is Sauvignon Blanc (and there will be lots of reviews of this style!!) but today we are starting with one of my favorite wines available at the LCBO ...
HARDYS STAMP SERIES RIESLING/GEWURZTRAMINER

When someone thinks of a Riesling, they automatically think the wine is sweet ... not so with this gem!! Yes, it is sweeter than the wines I usually drink but nothing like the Rieslings of Germany that I remember from years ago.
The flavor explodes in your mouth and is a perfect match for a spicy dish ... we like it with Thai food ... or really, just on it's own!!!!
