Well, it's been awhile but I'm slipping in another Sauvignon Blanc (I suspect I'll be doing that quite a bit over the coming year!!) ...
SAN PEDRO GATO NEGRO SAUVIGNON BLANC
LCBO 219048 | 750 mL bottle
Regular readers will know that my favorite wine is Sauvignon Blanc and that my favorite under $10 is from Chile so I was very excited to try another from Chile. But that enthusiasm was quickly chilled when I poured a bit and smelled the aromas that here promised ... there were none!
The wine was a pale straw color with a tinge of green (the description on the bottle that I totally agree with - pale) ... The description also states that there is an aromatic "vibrant tropical fruit" smell ... nope, did not see that at all. The description goes on to describe a "light fresh wine, with flavors of lynches and guavas (?) with a citrus finish".
What I found was a very light wine, with no aroma but a pleasant citrus (but light) taste! Being totally captivated by TaraPaca (my Sauvignon choice ... and from Chile) I can only give this wine a score of 6/10. Would I buy it again? Why, when I can buy TaraPaca for $1.00 more!!!!
Price: $ 8.95, Wine, White Wine, , 13.0% Alcohol/Vol.
Made in: Chile, Chile, By: Vina San Pedro
Tasting Note - Pale straw colour; light grassy, melon and citrus aromas; dry, fruity flavours with an herbal edge.
